The basics on home valuation:
First of all, your home is unique! Nobody can tell you what your Oakland, Piedmont of Berkeley home is worth without seeing it first. With that said, the quickest (yet least accurate) value can be obtained at Zillow.com. Zillow uses data found in the public record and applies a mathematical formula to come up with a “Zestimate.” It doesn’t take into account inaccuracies in the public record, the style of your home, its physical condition, any unique character, sun exposure etc. It’s safe to assume that your valuation will be within approximately 20-30% of your homes current market value.

The easiest and most accurate way to get an idea of your homes value in today’s market is to have me see it with my own eyes. Every home is different and in the Oakland, Piedmont and Berkeley areas there may literally be hundreds of thousands of dollars in market value for homes on the same street.
