Wherever you live in Oakland, you’ll find yourself spending time in Lakeshore/Grand neighborhood. These two parallel streets are packed with people enjoying the cafes, clothing and bookstores, ethnic restaurants and one of the last independent theatres: the Grand Lake Theatre. This landmark movie house has a colorful art deco marquee that boasts first run movies as well as political statements from its owner. Parking can be a challenge on Saturdays when the rain-or-shine Farmer’s Market fills the plaza. Any day of the week, however, you can find artisanal coffees, fresh flowers and a diverse community enjoying the shopping and community of one of Oakland’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

Home Prices in Lakeshore/Grand

The majority of homes for sale in Lakeshore-Grand were built just before the Great Depression.  You’ll find large stucco Craftsman and California Bungalows as well as several Spanish Mediterranean, Tudor and Mid-Century Modern homes to choose from.  There are only a few condo options available along with some duplexes and four-plexes. Property values in Lakeshore/Grand vary widely: you can find “fixer” 2-bedroom bungalows starting in the low $600’s, while some of the immaculately restored larger homes may sell in the $1.2m to $1.5m range.  Homes in the Lakeshore-Grand area are typically assigned to Crocker Highlands and Piedmont Ave. Elementary schools and Westlake Middle school.
